Get Out Of The Way!

Let me encourage you to open your heart and mind to what God has in store for your life today.

A couple of days ago my wife and I were making our way to meet up with some friends for dinner. Along the way in traffic, we had a car driving in front of us under the speeding limit. Now as someone trying to make it on time for dinner, the last thing I need was a slow driver in my way. My instant reaction of course was, “Get Out Of The Way!” either speed up or get out of the way. Have you every reacted that way? Maybe you said it during traffic like I did; maybe you said it while watching a movie,  a tv show; maybe while playing xbox or while rushing towards the restroom, “Get Out Of The Way!” I am sure we find it frustrating when obstacles get in the way between us and our destination, between us and what has our attention.

When we had returned home later that night, I had forgotten about the earlier events in traffic, and before heading to bed during my prayer time, I asked God, “would you please remind me how much you love me” and in a quite voice, I heard Him say,
“Get Out Of The Way” (my immediate response was, what did you say?) again, He continued, Get Out Of The Way…I’ve expressed myself that way too on several occassions. I’ll prove it to you. I love you so much, that when I saw what would keep you from me, from my love, from my promise, my purpose and my heaven…I said to sin and to death, “Get Out Of The Way!”
HMMM MOMENT

God saw our sin and broken humanity and knew where all this was heading. He knew that sin’s end result, would lead us to our own destruction. God could have said, ENOUGH! I’m Done, and could have wiped us out or could have said, let’s start a clean slate, but instead, He saw our broken humanity and chose to love and forgive. He chose to make a way. He chose to send His one and only Son Jesus to save us from the power of sin and death.
John 3:16-17 - "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.  For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him."
Meditation
It’s funny how God uses the silly things in life to confound the wise. I’m sure, you, like I, don’t like obstacles that get in the way of our destination or our interests, but I am sure glad that God got in the way of my sin.
  • God intentionally sent His Son Jesus here on earth to get in the way of Sin. To save us and to give us another chance at life  through His Son Jesus Christ.
  • When God now lays His eyes on you and I, he sees Jesus' accomplished work on the cross.
Can I Pray for You
Whatever season you are in, I pray that you experience hope, peace and spiritual encouragement in this reading and know that God’s presence is near. So the next time you hear or say, “Get Out Of The Way!”, I pray you are encouraged and reminded once again, how much God truly loves you.
